How successful is conciliation?

Whilst it may not be agreed in conciliation whether an actual breach of the Act has taken place, the high settlement rate represents the openness of the majority of respondents to take a fresh look at the case issues from the point of view of the disabled customer. Valuable lessons can be learned about assumptions made or gaps in knowledge.

Currently, 79% of our goods and services cases reach a full and final settlement with a slightly lower rate of 65% for education cases. However, success is also measured by what people say about the conciliation process. DCS asks all service users (Complainants and Respondents) for feedback on their experience of the conciliation process and using the service.
